Override the router’s default DNS with 8.8.8.8 (primary) and 8.8.4.4 (secondary) to dodge ISP-level caching that scores quota against your IP. Open a browser, enter the gateway (commonly 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1), log in, and open "WAN" or "Internet" settings.
